Position Overview
The PT Day Porter serves as a key crew member on MACS’ Operations Team by helping to keep our school community clean, sanitized, and safe. The PT Day Porter should be welcoming, personable, helpful and are also expected to demonstrate the school’s High-5-Habits: kindness, compassion, determination, integrity, and wonder. The PT Day Porter is committed to representing the school in a professional and friendly manner at all times.
In addition, it is essential that the person for this role is committed to supporting all functions of school operations, organized, able to multitask, work flexibly and maintains the confidentiality/privacy rights of all scholars, family, and staff.
General Duties & Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness & aesthetics of two school buildings including but not limited to; classrooms, restrooms, cafeteria, breakrooms, office spaces, storage rooms, hallways, interior and exterior surface areas, etc.
- Perform janitorial tasks in entryways, corridors, classrooms, cafeterias, and common areas to ensure cleanliness and safety
- Sweeping, mopping, & vacuuming all floors
- Cleaning & stocking restrooms, breakrooms, cafeterias, etc. with supplies
- Keeping glass surfaces & door-knobs streak & fingerprint free
- Removing trash from full receptacles & replacing with new liner
- Remove any graffiti
- Use cleaning solutions safely, adhering to all safety precautions.
- Report equipment or cleaning product needs and malfunctions to supervisors.
- Assist with event support and respond to paging systems promptly.
- Follow infection control and handwashing procedures to maintain a sanitary environment.
- Ensure customer service and cleaning standards are consistently met.
- Performing miscellaneous maintenance tasks including but not limited to painting around the facility, moving equipment, replacing light bulbs, fixing carts/trash containers, pressure washing, organizing storage rooms, etc.
- Assemble/move furniture
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education, Training, Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous Lead Custodial/Janitorial experience in a school setting is preferred.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Willingness to perform routine tasks consistently.
- Must complete all responsibilities without supervision after training.
- Must be punctual and reliable for scheduled shifts.
- Ability to stand and walk for 5–8 hours daily.
- Must be able to lift/carry and push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies, as required by state, local, and/or customers.
- Must provide a criminal background check.
