What grade levels will MACS offer for the 2027-2028 school year?
MACS will serve K-7th grade scholars for the 2027-2028 school year. We will add 8th grade for the 2028-2029 school year. We will NOT add any high school grade levels.
What are some programs that MACS will offer my child (ren)?
MACS offers a curriculum focused on 21st century skills and digital citizenship to help our scholars be prepared for their futures. These programs include learning coding as a second language and integrated units on computer science, social emotional learning (SEL) in support of our character education, & STEAM focused curriculum for all grades.
Who is eligible to apply at MACS?
MACS is a state commissioned charter school, meaning that we have a statewide attendance zone. Any scholar in grades K-7th grade, living in any Georgia county is welcome to apply to MACS for the 2027-2028 school year.
What is the Whole Child Approach?
Whole Child Approach is the belief that the needs of the scholar are at the center of all decisions driving MACS. The master schedule, routines, strategic goals, everything starts with the needs of our scholars, and then we build structures of support around those needs. For example, we start and end everyday with Crew time as a way for scholars to set goals, and reflect on how they day went. In other words, it is the belief that a school should give more than an academic foundation to kids, but that we should equip them to lead whole, healthy, happy lives
How is the Whole Child Approach implemented at MACS?
Daily and through all decisions. While more than an hour per day is dedicated to focused social emotional learning through our morning and afternoon CREW meetings, a whole child perspective comes into focus as we consider all decisions ranging from academics to discipline to nutrition. We prioritize what is best for the growth of a scholar over a bottom line. At MACS, all faculty and staff are given more than 10 hours of annual training on whole child support, and leverage this training in their approach with scholars daily.
What are some other resources that are used to support the academic curriculum at MACS?
HMH Math, StemScopes, Social Studies Weekly, & a number of digital platforms are used to support instruction at MACS.
What is EL Education & how is it used at MACS?
EL Education has a specific school design model that has had success in diverse communities. EL Education was selected as the top curriculum model in 2018, has over 25 years of experience developing school design, and is currently in place at several successful metro Atlanta schools. Prior to the launching of MACS, founding team members shadowed and studied best practices at many local and nationally recognized EL schools to establish strong foundations of teaching and learning at MACS. MACS uses EL Education to support our Literacy instruction.
Is it free to attend MACS?
MACS is a tuition free school. However like most schools, there are fees incurred for various necessary instructional materials as well as fees incurred to participate in certain activities. For scholars in grades 1st – 4th, 6th, & 7th grade – those fees total to $180.00. For scholars in grades, Kinder, 5th, & eventually 8th grade – those fees total to $250.00. These fees cover the cost of items such as; headphones, communication folder, agenda book, school supplies, field trips, field day t-shirt, etc. Being that scholars in grades Kinder, 5th, & 8th will have end of year graduation, their fees tend to be a bit higher. We offer all families the option to pay their scholars enrichment fees upfront OR families can pay for items/events as they come up throughout the year.
Are enrichment fees mandatory?
While enrichment fees aren’t mandatory, they do help to ensure your scholar has the necessary school supplies for the year as well as allows them to participate in off campus field trips.
Does MACS offer meal service?
Yes! MACS is a part of the National School Lunch Program. This means that we are able to recognize free, reduced, & full pay meal participation. MACS serves breakfast & lunch. We also observe a time period each day for snack time. Snack however, is not provided by the school. Breakfast ends promptly at 8:15am. Scholars are also welcome to bring their own meals as well as refillable water bottles – if they so choose.
Does my scholar have to wear a uniform at MACS?
Miles Ahead is a uniform school and observes uniform dress Mon-Thurs and spirit wear Fridays. Each newly enrolled scholar will receive a FREE polo and t-shirt from MACS in their “Welcome to the CREW” welcome package upon enrollment. Parents will be able to order additional uniform apparel directly from our vendor – Brand Evolution.
What are the hours of operation at MACS?
School doors open at 7:30am for morning arrival. Scholars are considered tardy after 8:15am. Dismissal begins at 3pm & we strive to conclude dismissal by 3:30pm daily.
Does MACS offer before or after care?
YES! We affectionately call our before & after care program, Infinity Care. Before Care runs from 6:45am – 7:30am & After Care runs from 3:30pm – 6pm. Before Care is $35/wk ($20 drop in) & After Care is $85/wk ($25 drop in.)
What is the cut-off age for Kinder & 1st grade scholars for the 2027-2028 school year?
Any scholar applying for a Kindergarten seat for the 27/28 school year must be 5 years old by September 1st, 2027. Any scholar applying for a 1st grade seat for the 27/28 school year must be 6 years old September 1st, 2027. There is no exception to this policy.
How do I apply?
Online – Our online application is through SchoolMint. SchoolMint allows families to use the web and their iOS or Android phones and devices to submit applications, checkapplication status, and take the next steps in the enrollment process. The application will go live on our Admissions page on Monday, November 2nd, 2026.
Paper-based – You may print the Paper-Based Application , complete all sections & email it to: enroll@milesaheadcharter.org. You will receive
confirmation via email. You may also email us to schedule an appointment to complete the application in person.
What documents are required to apply?
There are NO documents required to apply for the open enrollment lottery.
What documents are required to officially register?
If offered a seat after submitting an application, you will have 5 business days to accept or decline the seat offer.
If accepted, families will then be prompted to submit the following required documents by June 18th, 2027:
- Parent/Guardian ID
- Scholar Proof of Age
- Residency Documents
- Ear, Eye, Dental, Nutrition (Form 3231)
- Immunization or Notarized Waiver (Form 2208)
- Scholar Social Security Card or Waiver
- Infinity Care Application
- GaDoe Occupation Survey
- 27-28 Media Release Form
- 27-28 Home Language Survey

Why does the application require my scholar’s proof of age?
We are required by the GA Dept. of Education to verify the date of birth as part of the eligibility process for enrollment.
Why does the application require the submission of a social security number?
The Georgia Department of Education generates a GTID for all public school scholars. This is the identification number that is used for all school-related documents and reporting. If your child has never been enrolled in a Georgia public pre-k or public school we will request the social security number as this is what allows this alternate ID to be generated.
No child will be denied enrollment or attendance to MACS for declining to provide an ss card. Families may waive the requirement to provide an ss card.
What if my scholar’s doctor's appointment is scheduled after the June 18th, 2027 deadline to submit my Form 3231 & Form 3300?
We strongly encourage you to try to set your appointments ahead of the deadline. In order to be considered for an extension, we require documentation of a confirmed/scheduled upcoming appointment.
Is anyone given preference in the enrollment process & lottery?
Yes. Scholars that have siblings that are currently enrolled are given preference.
What if one of my scholars is accepted & another one isn’t?
Unfortunately, we do not observe sibling priority for scholars that are not currently enrolled. There is a possibility that you may have one or more scholars on the waitlist.
Will my scholar have to participate in the lottery every year?
No. Once a scholar is enrolled, they do not have to re-apply every year; however, we do require that families complete a very quick Seat Save Form every year, indicating your intention to save your scholar’s seat for the upcoming school year. The annual Seat Save Survey is required for all families that wish to re-register for the upcoming school year.
What if my scholar has a sibling that isn’t in grades K-7th grade?
MACS will eventually grow to K-8th grade, however for the 2027-2028 school year, we will only serve K-7th grade.
If my desired tour date is booked, can I do a walk-in tour?
No. MACS does not facilitate walk-in/walk-up tours. Our tour schedule is intentionally designed to fit the needs & safety of our current scholars & staff.
