Miles Ahead Charter School (MACS) is a tuition-free, public charter school authorized by the State Charter Schools Commission (SCSC) of Georgia serving grades K-6 in the 2026-2027 academic year. As an SCSC authorized school, MACS operates as a Local Educational Authority (LEA) with a statewide attendance zone. MACS is committed to providing educational opportunities students may not have had outside their local options.

Overview of Position
The Instructional Coach is responsible for the successful implementation of MACS’s innovative academic program, balancing state standardized achievement with individual student growth. This mid-level management role serves on the school leadership team and supports both teacher and scholar development. The Instructional Coach supervises, coaches, trains, and develops teachers, monitors key student academic goals and initiatives, and supports other school-wide priorities to create a joyful and academically excellent school environment.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of MACS school-wide vision and invest in mobilizing teachers to achieve collective goals.
- Supervise effective academic instruction within identified grade bands across all content areas.
- Provide pedagogical development strategies for a grade band of teachers to ensure teacher growth translates into scholar growth.
- Observe and assess instruction aligned to Georgia’s evaluation systems in coordination with the Head of School.
- Lead initiatives related to teacher development and training, including mentoring, family communication, and technical assistance.
- Support the Head of School in identifying and developing teacher leaders (Grade Level Chairs) through coaching, feedback, and leadership opportunities.
Teacher Professional Development
- Manage and coach a team of teachers, including special education teachers, to achieve academic and social-emotional results.
- Support mastery of academic standards in all subjects/grades coached and their implications across other subjects/grades.
- Lead implementation of rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum meeting the needs of diverse learners, including weekly content team meetings and lesson internalization.
- Implement regular coaching cycles with observation and real-time feedback.
- Collaborate with instructional staff to develop knowledge, design, and implement effective instructional strategies for all students.
- Support coordination and implementation of school-wide assessments; analyze assessment data to identify trends, gaps, and intervention opportunities.
- Monitor student academic progress using data-driven instructional practices and data analysis meetings.
- Evaluate classroom teacher performance using a modified TKES rubric.
- Lead teacher instructional development with support from Academics and Admin teams.
Testing Coordinator Responsibilities
- Serve as MACS Testing Coordinator for all state and federally mandated assessments including GMAS, ACCESS, GKIDS, etc.
- Schedule and monitor schoolwide interim assessment management systems.
- Attend all required GADOE and SCSC training related to testing and assessment.
- Provide training to instructional staff on assessment, data-driven instruction, and supporting diverse learners.
Data-Driven Academic Culture / Title I Priorities
- Lead the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) process for schoolwide data tracking and alignment.
- Create and implement data protocols and agendas for grade level and department teams.
- Support teams in identifying best instructional practices to increase scholar mastery and growth.
- Collaborate with professional learning vendors to support professional development of instructional personnel.
- Report on scholar academic performance and teacher effectiveness to the Director of Academics and Culture and schoolwide leadership team.
Comprehensive School Improvement Plan
- Coach teachers on improving literacy pedagogy.
- Lead data dives with grade level groups to support small group instruction K-5.
- Monitor effectiveness of standards-based instruction to ensure overall student growth and mastery of content.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master’s Degree Preferred
- Knowledge of IDEA, ADA, 504 Rehabilitation Act
- 5 years of teaching experience
- Experience with Gifted, ESOL, and EIP programming
- Strong professional recommendations
- Highly organized and able to multitask

- 3-5 years working in K-8 settings
- Experience working in inclusive classrooms
- Leading training and mentoring for newer teachers
