Frequently Asked Questions
MACS will offer grades K-5 for the 2024-2025 school. We will grow an additional grade each year until we are a full capacity of K-8.
MACS offers a curriculum focused on 21st century skills and digital citizenship to help our scholars be prepared for their futures. These programs include learning coding as a language, responsible social media usage curriculum, responsible internet usage, and integrated units on computer science. Our goal is to equip scholars with the skills they would need to be prepared for a digitally interconnected society
Whole Child Approach is the belief that the needs of the scholar are at the center of all decisions driving MACS. The master schedule, routines, strategic goals, everything starts with the needs of our scholars, and then we build structures of support around those needs. For example, we start and end everyday with Crew time as a way for scholars to set goals, and reflect on how they day went. In other words, it is the belief that a school should give more than an academic foundation to kids, but that we should equip them to lead whole, healthy, happy lives.
HMH Math, StemScopes, Social Studies Weekly, & a number of digital platforms are used to support instruction at MACS.
EL Education has a specific school design model that has had success in diverse communities. EL Education was selected as the top curriculum model in 2018, has over 25 years of experience developing school design, and is currently in place at several successful metro Atlanta schools. Prior to the launching of MACS, founding team members shadowed and studied best practices at many local and nationally recognized EL schools to establish strong foundations of teaching and learning at MACS. MACS uses EL Education to support our Literacy instruction.
Absolutely! We are a state commission charter school (SCSC) this means that we have a statewide attendance zone.
MACS provides satellite bus transportation with limited seating. Please indicate on your application that you are interested in our Satellite bus transportation.
Yes! MACS serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks at a cost. Scholars are also welcome to bring their own lunches as well as refillable water bottles – if they so choose.
Miles Ahead is a uniform school and observes uniform dress Mon-Thurs and spirit wear Fridays. Each scholar will receive a FREE polo and t-shirt from MACS in their “Welcome to the CREW” welcome package upon enrollment. Parents will be able to order additional uniform apparel directly from our vendor – Brand Evolution.
YES! MACS does offer before & after-care daily. Before care operates from 6:40am – 7:30am and aftercare operates from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. The weekly rate for before care is $25/week and $65/week for aftercare. We do observe a 10% sibling discount.
We will grow to be a K-8 campus, however, for the 2024-2025 school year MACS will have grades K-5th. This means that we can not enroll grades 6th – 8th.
Unfortunately, we do not observe sibling priority for scholars that are not currently enrolled. There is a possibility that you may have one or more scholars on the waitlist.
Kindergarten scholars must be 5 years old before September 1st, 2024, to be eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year. There are no exceptions to this policy.
First-grade scholars must be 6 years old before September 1st, 2024, to be eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year. There are no exceptions to this policy.
- Online – Our online application is through SchoolMint. SchoolMint allows families to use the web and their iOS or Android phones and devices to submit applications, check application status, and take the next steps in the enrollment process.
- Paper-based – You may print the application via our website, complete all sections, upload the document, & email it to: enroll@milesaheadcharter.org. You will receive
confirmation via email.
You can begin completing your registration requirements. Registration must be completed by the deadline of June 30th.
Yes. Scholars that have siblings that are currently enrolled are given preference.

No. Once your scholar is officially enrolled, they will remain in an enrolled status unless they are withdrawn by their parent/guardian.

No. MACS does not facilitate walk-in/walk-up tours. Our tour schedule is intentionally designed to fit the needs & safety of our current scholars & staff.

We are required by the GA Dept. of Education to verify the date of birth as part of the eligibility process for enrollment.
The Georgia Department of Education generates a GTID for all public school scholars. This is the identification number that is used for all school-related documents and reporting. If your child has never been enrolled in a Georgia public pre-k or public school we will request the social security number as this is what allows this alternate ID to be generated.
(No child will be denied enrollment or attendance to MACS for declining to provide an ss card. Families may waive the requirement to provide an ss card.)

Yes. We will ask that you submit documentation for the address that you are currently residing in along with a notarized affidavit of residency.
- Completion of the registration sections 1-11 on SchoolMint
- Form 3300 (Ear, Eye, Dental, Nutrition) all sections should be signed/dated by a licensed
physician - Form 3231 (Immunization) or a notarized waiver (Form 2208)
- Medical exemption authorized by a medical doctor. This must be indicated on Form 3231, a letter is not sufficient. Medical exemptions must be kept on file, are valid for one year, and may be reissued from year to year until a physician determines immunizations can be completed.
- Conflict with religious beliefs verified by parents’/legal guardians’ sworn affidavit. The only affidavit that may be used to register a religious objection to required vaccinations is DPH Form 2208. The form must be notarized and can be accessed on our school website or by emailing: enroll@milesaheadcharter.org
