At MACS, we are committed to enhancing educational opportunities for all our scholars through the strategic use of federal programs and funds. Our participation in these programs supports our mission to provide a comprehensive, equitable, and high-quality education. Here is an overview of the key federal programs that help us achieve our educational goals:
Title I, Part A: Improving Basic Programs
This program provides financial assistance to schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.
Our Implementation: Funds are used to support additional instruction in reading and mathematics, as well as supplementary educational services and materials.
Title II, Part A: Supporting Effective Instruction
This program aims to increase scholar achievement by elevating teacher and principal quality through recruitment, development, and retention strategies.
Our Implementation: We invest in professional development for our educators, including training in evidence-based instructional strategies and leadership development for school administrators.
Title III, Part A: Language Instruction for English Learners and Immigrant Scholars
This program assists in ensuring that English learners and immigrant scholars attain English proficiency and achieve academically in the core academic subjects.
Our Implementation: Funds support English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, bilingual instruction, and culturally responsive educational materials.
Title IV: Educational Equity
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination based on sex in any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
Our Implementation: We are committed to providing an educational environment and workplace environment free from sex-based discrimination, ensuring equal access to all academic and extracurricular activities, resources, and support services, as well as non-discriminatory practices in employment.
Title IX, Part A: McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act
This act provides federal funding to support the educational needs of homeless children and youth.
Our Implementation: We ensure that homeless scholars have access to the same free and appropriate public education as other children, including access to academic resources, transportation, and other necessary services.
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
IDEA mandates that children with disabilities be provided a Free Appropriate Public Education that is tailored to their individual needs.
Our Implementation: We develop and execute Individualized Education Programs (IEP) to meet the needs of each scholar with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
Non-Discrimination and Accessibility
Commitment: We are dedicated to providing a non-discriminatory educational environment where all scholars have the opportunity to succeed regardless of their background.
Our Implementation: Regular training, policy reviews, and accessible facilities and information ensure compliance with all federal non-discrimination laws.
