Federal Programs & Accountability

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act

MACS provides a supportive and accessible learning environment for all scholars, including those with disabilities as defined under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Section 504 is a federal civil rights law that is designed to eliminate discrimination based on disability in any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance and ensures that scholars with disabilities have equal access to an education comparable to that provided to their non-disabled peers. Under this law, scholars with disabilities are entitled to receive appropriate accommodations and modifications to facilitate their full participation in all school programs and activities.

Rights Under Section 504

  • Equal Access: At our school, we guarantee that every scholar, regardless of ability, has the same opportunity to participate in all educational offerings, extracurricular activities, and programs, ensuring a level playing field for all. This commitment to equal access helps foster an inclusive environment where every scholar can thrive.
  • Parental Rights: Parents have the right to be informed about their child’s rights under Section 504, including participation in decisions about accommodations and services.
  • Grievance Procedures: Our school has established a grievance procedure for parents who believe their child’s rights under Section 504 have been violated. Details of this procedure can be accessed under the Grievances page on our website.

Commitment to Non-Discrimination

We do not discriminate on the basis of disability in any of our programs, services, or activities. Ensuring the accessibility of our website and digital platforms is part of our commitment to providing equal opportunities for all scholars.
