Miles Ahead Charter School ensures that every scholar, including those experiencing homelessness, has access to the same educational opportunities as their peers. Under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, we provide necessary support to remove educational barriers for homeless children and youth who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence and qualify as homeless. This includes those living in shelters, motels, vehicles, or temporarily with others due to economic hardship.
Rights and Services
- Immediate Enrollment: Homeless scholars are enrolled immediately, even without typical enrollment documents.
- School Stability and Transportation: We support the right to stay in their school of origin, with transportation provided if needed.
- Equal Access: Scholars have full access to educational and emotional support programs, extracurricular activities, and meals.
- Family Engagement: We provide information and support to help parents and guardians participate actively in their child’s education.
