Federal Programs & Accountability

IDEA

At MACS, we are committed to providing a free appropriate public education (FAPE) to all scholars, including those with disabilities, in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). As an LEA, we ensure that scholars with disabilities have access to specialized educational services that meet their unique needs.

 Our Commitment

  • Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE): We provide tailored educational programs designed to meet the individual needs of scholars with disabilities, as defined under IDEA.
  • Least Restrictive Environment (LRE): We strive to educate scholars with disabilities alongside their non-disabled peers to the maximum extent appropriate.

Services and Supports

  • Individualized Education Programs (IEP): Each eligible scholar receives an IEP, developed in partnership with parents, educators, and specialists, to ensure that they receive the specific interventions and supports needed.
  • Evaluations and Assessments: Comprehensive evaluations are conducted to accurately identify educational needs, strengths, and necessary services for each scholar with a disability.
  • Special Education Services: We offer a range of special education services tailored to the requirements of each scholar’s IEP. These services are designed to enable scholars to advance toward achieving their annual goals.

Parental Involvement

Parents are vital partners in the IEP process. We ensure continuous communication with parents about their child’s progress and involve them in all decisions regarding their child’s education. Parents have specific rights under IDEA, including the right to participate in IEP meetings, access educational records, and request independent educational evaluations.

Procedural Safeguards

Rights Under IDEA: We adhere to procedural safeguards under IDEA to protect the rights of scholars and their families, including the right to informed consent, the right to review educational records, and the right to dispute resolution mechanisms. HERE you can find access to Parent Rights.

Accessibility and Non-Discrimination

We are committed to ensuring that all school programs, activities, and services are accessible to scholars with disabilities. Discrimination against scholars on the basis of disability is strictly prohibited in our programs and activities.
